2011 SBRA FINALS GENERAL INFORMATION

DATES: August 1, 2, 3 & 4, 2011

LOCATION: Prairieland Park Ag Centre, Saskatoon, SK.  **Please note that entry gates at the grounds are locked each night for security purposes with the exception of the gate located near Sports on Tap**

JACKPOT ATTENDANCE CUTOFF:
The last day to attend a jackpot to qualify for finals will be July 10/11.

FINALS ENTRIES ***New in 2011**:

Entries for the 2011 finals will be made through One Easy Entry.  The entry form, ground rules, payment options and all other applicable information is available by clicking the SBRA FINALS ENTRIES link on the SBRA website at www.saskbarrelracing.com.   Entries must be post marked by July 11, 2011 and received by the entry office no later than July 14, 2011.  Please note, the entry office is the one indicated on the entry website for One Easy Entry.  Attendance forms must be sent to your district director and they must have RECEIVED THEM by July 14/11.  The SBRA will not be responsible for entries not received, so we suggest a traceable method of postage to ensure receipt of entries.  You must be a member, and in good standing with the SBRA to enter finals.

ENTRY FEES:

Office Fee – $12 per person

Pizza Supper – $10 per person

Open – $60.00

Youth – $40.00

Pee Wee – $10.00

Select – $25.00 (Times will be carried over from the open)

Barrel Bonanza – $40.00

Men’s Barrels – $20.00

Sponsorship Fee – $15.00/horse

Host Hotel – Indicate whether you have booked a room at the Travelodge, our host hotel.  If you are booking, please use the proper CODE – CG781C in order for the SBRA to receive sponsorship from the Travelodge.

STABLING INFORMATION:

Contestant will have three options for stabling at the 2011 finals.  Horses staying overnight must be in a stall or a pen.  They can be tied to the trailer during the day, but MUST be cleaned up after immediately.  Stalls will be assigned on a first come first serve basis, as entry is received.  Once stabling of a certain type (indoor stall or outdoor pen) is completely booked, the option will be removed from the entry website.  Stalls near “buddies” may be requested to a maximum of 4 people and entries for all buddy requests must be received by One Easy Entry at the same time.  There will be NO tack stalls available.  Fees are as follows:

  1. Stall Fees – $50/week
    • Contestants can bring their own shavings for bedding or shavings will be available for purchase on the grounds.  Straw is not allowed for bedding
    • If you are drawn for inside stalls, your trailer cannot be parked on a grass area.  It must be parked on the pavement.
  1. Pen Fee – $30/week
    • Contestants must supply their own pen
    • Pens will be measured prior to contestant arrival and board members will assist contestants in choosing pens
    • No bedding allowed in outdoor pens (shavings, straw, etc.)
  1. Haul In Fees – $25/week
    • This fee is applicable for those hauling into the grounds each day and hauling their horses home for the night
    • There will be a designated area for contestants that haul in for the day
    • All manure must be cleaned up around the trailer at the end of each day

***Indoor stalls and outdoor pens MUST be cleaned prior to leaving the finals.  Contestants who do not clean their stalls will be subject to a fine.  A local 4H group will be available for hire to clean contestant stall for a fee payable by the contestant***

CAMPING INFORMATION:

Camping spots are limited and will be done on a draw basis.  Contestants wishing to reserve a camping spot must send an email request to the SBRA Secretary by June 30th, 2011.  Once the draw is made, you will be notified and payment must be received to the SBRA Secretary by July 14th, 2011 to secure the camping spot in your name.  If a contestant drawn for a camping spot does not send payment by this date, the next person on the list will be contacted.   Please note that camping spots are power and water only – there is no sewer hookups available.  Serviced camping fees are $35/week.

TOONIE RUNS:

Toonie runs will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1.  For each toonie run the fee will be $2/minute with only one horse in the arena per each toonie run.  Each horse entered in finals is allowed one toonie run maximum.  Entries for the toonie runs will be by phone on July 20, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to Joleen at (780)603-0281.  You will receive a time slot for your toonie run at this time.  Toonie runs must be paid for prior to entering the arena for your time slot.

FINALS DUTIES:

The membership will be called upon to perform some duties at the finals including raking, working gates and running the clothing booth.  There will be schedules posted for each duty on the website prior to the finals and at the finals.  Every effort will be made to coordinate these responsibilities with your running order.  It is however, the responsibility of the contestant to find a replacement if she/he cannot perform the finals duties they are scheduled for.  There will be a sign in sheet for all finals duties – please make sure you sign in when you arrive for your duty.  If you have a replacement, please be sure they sign your name.  Any member that does not show up for their scheduled duty will be fined $25 and not be allowed to make their run until the fine is paid.

BARREL BONANZA:

The competition age of eligible barrel bonanza horses is 7 years.

MEN’S BARREL RACE:

The Men’s Barrel Race will take place immediately following the short go for some great entertainment!  This race is open to men only, who must ride a horse that was entered in the SBRA finals.  The men must not be entered on a horse that they themselves competed on in the finals.

CALVENZA SIDEPOT:

There is added money available for champion horses that have been vaccinated with Calvenza Influenza vaccine.  If your horse has been vaccinated with Calvenza, please be prepared to provide proof of purchase AT the Finals.  For more information on Calvenza, visit http://www.calvenza.com/.

HAT FINE:

If you lose your hat in the arena there will be a $10 fine to get it back.  All proceeds from the hat fine will be donated towards Breast Cancer Research.

PINK DAY:

We will be having a pink day in support of Breast Cancer Research on Wednesday, August 3.  Deck you and your horse out in pink to show your support for all of those affected by breast cancer and those looking for a cure!!!

CONTESTENT BIO INFORMATION:

Contestant bio information will be requested at time of entry and will be incorporated into the entry form.  Please complete this information at time of entry.

PIZZA NIGHT:

There will be a Pizza Night on Wednesday evening at the Prairieland Park grounds.  Tickets will be $10 each which includes a pizza and a pop.  Please indicate how many tickets you will require on your entry form.  There will be a cash bar on site.

SBRA FINALS GROUND RULES

  1. Contestants cannot arrive at the grounds prior to Monday, August 1st at 8 am.  Arrival prior to this time may result in disqualification.
  2. To attend the provincial finals, a contestant must be a current member of the S.B.R.A, and be in good standing. She/he must have participated in the required number of S.B.R.A. sanctioned jackpots. For Open, Youth and Select memberships to attend the finals, the Horse/Rider combination must attend 6 jackpots, 2 of which must be on Saskatchewan soil.  PeeWee and Barrel Bonanza competitors must attend 3 jackpots as a horse rider combination to qualify for the finals.
  3. One person may enter more than one horse with the entry fee being paid on each horse in each division.
  4. Contestants may not cross enter the Youth and PeeWee divisions.  The contestant can only enter either the Youth division or the PeeWee division.
  5. Contestants in the PeeWee division cannot be ponied by a person on another horse.  If they require assistance through the pattern by another person, they must be led on foot.
  6. The following are the eligible ages as of January 1st of the competition year:
    a. Youth 3D division is 16 years and under unless a jackpot is sanctioned for the N.B.H.A., the age will go up to 18 years to follow their guidelines; and
    b. Select is 50 years and older.
  7. Western dress code will be enforced at the SBRA finals – western attire is to be worn (long-sleeved shirts not including hoodies or sweat shirts, western hats, western boots, and western pants).
  8. Reruns shall be granted if there is a complete failure in timing or if the barrels are not placed properly on their markers. No prior penalties will apply to rerun.
  9. Failure to follow the standard barrel pattern below will result in disqualification. Breaking the pattern will consist of:  a.   Making an extra loop anywhere in the cloverleaf pattern, once over the start line as indicated above.
    1. Falling off the horse.
    2. Turning a barrel twice.
    3. Crossing the finish line prior to completion of run.
  10. If there is a tie for division champion a run-off will be done. If horse/rider is not there for the run-off they are automatically put into second place. All other ties will be determined by a coin toss.
  11. Upon entering the provincial finals all turn outs or no shows must pay the appropriate entry fee unless a medical or vet release is presented.   Office Administration fees will not be refunded with a medical or vet release.  Medical or vet releases will be accepted up to and must be received by the Secretary by August 1, 2011.  If the release is not received, entry fees will not be reimbursed.  Any unpaid fees will be added to renewed memberships.
  12. There will be a rake after every 5 competitors on the original program. Turn outs and/or vet outs will not alter the rake schedule.
  13. At the provincial finals we will bring back 10% (round up) of the total entries over and above 200 entries for Youth and Open.
  14. All money and prizes will be awarded based on 100th of a second.
  15. If a horse and rider exits the arena during their run at the finals, they are NOT allowed to enter back into the arena. Once the horse exits the arena, the run is considered complete. NO “working” your horse.
  16. If at any time during a run at the provincial finals you stop the timer, your run is complete. You must exit the arena immediately and not restart your run or timer. (No practice runs). Failure in following this rule will result in a fine being issued.
  17. A knocked barrel will result in a no time and will not be eligible for money and/or prizes/awards.
  18. When the arena director waves you in at the provincial finals, you must enter arena immediately unless your horse is refusing upon which you will have 3 minutes to start the timer or you will be disqualified for that run.
  19. The “work” timetable that is conducted for the contestants at the provincial finals is a tentative table that MUST be adhered to. Violators will be fined accordingly.
  20. In the case of the death of a horse entered in the SBRA finals, the deceased horse may be replaced by a different horse to compete at the finals providing there is a death certificate from a certified veterinarian presented to the executive of the SBRA and the deceased horse must have been qualified for the provincial finals at least 30 days prior to the start of the provincial finals date.
  21. Abusive language and abuse to a horse will not be tolerated. Anyone using abusive language or abusing a horse will be subject to a $100.00 fine at the discretion of the district directors.
  22. Conduct unbecoming or detrimental to the reputation of the S.B.R.A. will be dealt with by a fine. This is to be determined by the provincial S.B.R.A. executive upon recommendation by that district’s directors. If the fine is not paid, and if further action is needed, then there will be a suspension, then membership revoked. This fine should be issued in writing and is set for $100.00.
  23. Competing while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can result in suspension from the S.B.R.A. and/or loss of S.B.R.A. attendance or disqualification during the competition year.
  24. Misidentifying a horse in any division will disqualify the contestant.
  25. Any grievance in regards to a disqualification must be brought to the attention of the directors before the prize money is awarded.
  26. All competitors 17 years and younger must wear a certified riding helmet when on a horse in and out of the riding arena. As soon as the youth turns 18 they no longer have to wear a helmet.
  27. There will be no bareback riding or riding double anywhere on the grounds, in the barns or in the warm up arena.
  28. There will be no ponying of PeeWee members in or out of the arena. You are able to lead your PeeWee on foot – Not on horseback.

PRAIRIELAND PARK AG CENTRE – RENTAL CONDITIONS

TERMS

1.       In this Agreement:

(a)    “Grounds” means all the grounds of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation including, barns and related facilities and the buildings containing the stall or stalls assigned to the Applicant; and

(b)   “SPPC” means Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation and includes the Ag Centre.

ACCESS TO GROUNDS

2.       The Applicant is responsible at all times for the conduct of his/her employees and for any person or persons under the charge or control of or contracting with the Applicant on the Grounds and for the conduct of any person whom a pass is granted at the request of the Applicant.

3.       Use of the stalls, stall space, arena and access to, conduct upon and use of the Grounds for any purpose (including, without limitation, horse training, exercising) will be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Saskatchewan Liquor & Gaming Authority and with any rules, directions or orders from SPPC.

4.       No dogs are permitted in the stable or arena.

5.       Neither the stall accommodation nor any other facilities on the Grounds, including tack stalls, are to be used for residential purposes or for sleeping accommodations.

6.       All vehicles and trailers including horse trailers will be parked where directed.

7.       The stall accommodation and all other facilities on the Grounds shall not be mutilated or damaged in any way and no structural changes to the said stall accommodation or other facilities shall be made.  The Applicant will be responsible for any damage to stall accommodation or other facilities allotted until the same are vacated and SPPC is notified.  Such accommodation shall be maintained in good and clean condition and all manure and litter shall be deposited where directed by SPPC.  All stalls shall be cleaned to a condition satisfactory to SPPC upon being vacated, either as requested or voluntarily.  Any cost to clean the stalls after being vacated, for failure to properly clean the same, shall be borne by the Applicant.

EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY

8.       Neither SPPC nor any officer, employee, agent, contractor, or volunteer of SPPC shall be liable for any injury or loss suffered in any manner to any person or property, including the horses listed or any other horse under the possession, charge or control of the Applicant, while on the Grounds, whether caused by the condition of the Grounds or otherwise and whether caused by negligence or otherwise (but excluding willful misconduct).

9.       The Applicant shall indemnify and hold harmless SPPC, its officers, employees, contractors, volunteers and agents from and against all claims, liabilities, losses, costs, damages and attorney fees incurred by the reason of conduct or negligence of the Applicant or of its employees, agents, or guests.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

As a user of our facility you are required to do the following:

  1. ALL stalls must be left clean; there are Allan’s disposal bins for your use during the show, prior to departure we request that all refuse be pushed into the alley with the stall doors left open to the inside; failure to do so will result in privileges being revoked in future;
  2. Please park trailers in designated area & clean up manure in the parking lot at all times.
  3. Please fork manure in the arena into the wheelbarrows provided as soon as possible.
